Externally Beaded Windows a 'Cause for Concern'
Do your windows look like those on the left of the picture? If so, you may have cause for concern.
Beading holds the glass securely within the uPVC frame. On some older models, it’s externally fitted—meaning it can be popped out from the outside, allowing the glass to be removed.
If your window has external beading, speak to a locksmith about upgrading to an internally beaded unit or securing the current setup with tamper-proof fittings.
Tenants of private rented or local authority rented properties should approach their landlords to seek a window upgrade.
